The vibrant and colourful 18th Vilnius Short Film Festival will take place on 15-21 January in the cinema at the Šiauliai Museum of Photography, as well as all over Lithuania on the home cinema platform ŽMONĖS Cinema. As every year, the festival never fails to amaze and brings a bunch of news and stories that will keep you glued to the cinema screens, and a wide repertoire, where even the most discerning of filmgoers will discover their favourite programme.

In 2024, the Vilnius Short Film Festival became the first in Lithuania to qualify for the Oscars. What does this mean? It means that from this year onwards, films competing in the festival’s competition programmes will not only be able to compete for the Festival’s Grand Prix but also for the famous Oscars.
This year, the festival is also taking even stronger steps towards inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities and other socially vulnerable groups.
Festival will be all kinds of things: sweet, spicy, bitter, full of courage and love. Over 100 carefully selected short films from all over the world, including 13 of the most exceptional films by Lithuanian filmmakers.

The festival is organised by a Lithuanian short film agency “Lithuanian Shorts”.

Get ready and mark the bright purple colour days 15-21 of January in your calendars! In Šiauliai, the festival will take place at the Photography Museum.
