During the Lithuanian Season in France Saison de la Lituanie en France 2024, Šiauliai Aušra Museum branch – the Photography Museum together with partners Kaunas District Museum and Musée Nicéphore Niépce (France) present the exhibition “Between Lithuania and France. Two Worlds of Count Tiškevičius in the 19th-Century Photography”.
Benediktas Henrikas Tiškevičius (1852-1935) was one of the pioneers of photography in Lithuania. The photographer belonged to the French Photographic Society, the prestigious Paris Photography Club, participated in exhibitions, and his photographs were published in important publications along with the most famous French photographers of the time.
The exhibition in Musée Nicéphore Niépce Chalon-sur-Saône will run from November 9, 2024 to January 19, 2025.
More about the exhibitionThe influential French photography magazine L’Oeil de la Photographie has published a special issue dedicated to the photography projects of the Lithuanian season in France. The magazine also presents the project implemented by Kaunas District Museum in cooperation with Musée Nicéphore Niépce and The Photography Museum – the exhibition “Between Lithuania and France. Two Worlds of Count Tiškevičius in the 19th-Century Photography”.
The article contains an interview with the curators of the exhibition, Dr. Dainius Junevičius and Audrey Lebeault.
